Two PSU Women’s Lacrosse players are All-LEC
Swanson, Buckle named to Second Team
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two midfielders on the Plymouth State University women’s lacrosse team were honored Tuesday with selections to the All-Little East Conference (LEC) team for the 2011 season.
Sophomore Caitlin Swanson (Holderness, N.H./Plymouth Regional) and freshman Emily Buckle (Danbury, Conn.) represented PSU on the All-LEC Second Team. They were the Panthers’ two leading scorers this spring and gave PSU a strong tandem in the midfield.
A two-year starter, Swanson led the Panthers in scoring with 57 points on 45 goals and 12 assists. She tied for third in the LEC in goals per game (3.0), ranked fifth in points per game (3.80) and second in game-winning goals (4). She was also second on the team in draw controls (26) and fourth in ground balls (25).

Swanson tallied at least one goal in all 15 PSU games, and notched at least two goals 13 times. Her top performances were a seven-goal, one-assist game in a victory at Worcester State University, and a five-goal, one-assist effort in a win at Linfield College (Ore.).
A starter in every game as a rookie, Buckle ranked second on the team in scoring with 28 goals, seven assists and 35 points. She also collected 22 ground balls, which ranked fifth on the team, and 18 draw controls, which was tied for third.
Buckle scored at least one goal in all but two games this season, with her top performance a six-goal game at Pacific University (Ore.) in March. She was also recognized by the LEC during the season, earning Rookie of the Week on both Mar. 28 and Apr. 4.
PSU completed the season with a 7-8 overall record under second-year head coach Kristin Blanchette. The Panthers finished 2-4 in the LEC and were knocked out of the conference tournament in the first round.
