Field, Bay named Players of the Week for Panthers

            PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Little East Conference honors continued for the Plymouth State University women’s lacrosse team Monday as two student-athletes were selected for LEC Player of the Week recognition for their performances in Panther victories last week.

            Freshmen Lorin Field (Hollis, N.H./Hollis-Brookline) and Mekenna Bay (Maracaibo, Venezuela) are this week’s Panther recipients, Field being named LEC Goalie of the Week and Bay earning LEC Rookie of the Week honors.  It is the second honor this season for Field and the first for Bay.

	Lorin Field

            A freshman goalie, Field made 22 saves in three Panther wins last week (1-0 LEC), recording a 3-0 record, a 5.50 goals against average and a .667 saves percentage.  She made 14 saves in PSU’s 8-7 LEC win Friday at UMass Dartmouth to highlight her week.  Field played only the first half in PSU’s other two games due to lopsided scores, making three saves (two goals allowed) in a 19-7 win Wednesday over Worcester State and five saves (two goals allowed) in a 21-3 victory over Thomas College.

            Field in enjoying an outstanding rookie season and currently leads the LEC and is ranked second in the NCAA Division III in save percentage (.616).  She also tops the Little East and ranks 10th nationally in goals against average (7.72).

Mekenna Bay

            A freshman attacker, Bay scored nine goals and added two assists to help the Panthers go 3-0 for the week.  She scored eight of her goals and one assist in the first half of PSU’s 21-3 victory Sunday over Thomas College.  She also scored one goal and one assist Wednesday in a 19-7 win over Worcester State.  Bay totaled three ground balls and three draw controls for the week.

            PSU, 6-2 overall and atop the LEC standings with a 2-0 mark, is riding a four-game winning streak.  After eight games on the road to open the season, the Panthers will play five of their remaining six at home on Arold Field, beginning this Thursday with a non-conference clash against Bridgewater State University (4:00 p.m.)
